I would say this hike is a moderate level. Densely forested with boulder outcroppings and a seasonal waterfall, this is a gorgeous hike any time of year.
The seasonal creek in the Spring and the autumn leaves in the Fall make this a favorite hiking trail for locals and visitors. Hiking conditions in Big Bear are superb. The trail begins on the south side of Big Bear Boulevard. The elevation increases over 5feet, meaning if you’re not in tip top shape, you may want to discover an easier trail that’s more your speed.

Follow the directions to the trail hea and park on the side of the road. Originally I tried to head up the backside, which has a lot of scrambling to get to the base of the rock.
Once I got up the backside I could not find a good way to get to the top of the rock safely, so I just went and sat on the rock behind it and took in the. The Skyline Trail is a great singletrack trail that traverses the mountains above Big Bear Lake and the Snow Summit Ski Resort. There’s a small turnout one mile east of Big Bear Dam on State Highway 1 also known as Big Bear Boulevard. Nab one of the parking spots, cross the highway and look for the trailhead sign.
