Local auditions for plays

Local does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, national origin or disability. In the summer of every year, we open up submissions of new plays for our Local Lab New Play Festival to playwrights from Colorado, and by invitation only elsewhere. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Local Theater Company is a nonprofit organization committed to bringing exceptional, timely stories to the stage.

Typically, we hold auditions anywhere from 6-months in advance of the production’s first rehearsal. Our auditions for student actors are usually group-style format. Inspired by Neil Simon’s youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, with all the attendant comic drama as the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman “Max Prince”.

Learning theater by doing theater is a guiding principle for us - so we involve students.
