Asian spare ribs

This recipe is pretty simple, and yields tender, juicy, tangy ribs. In Japan, I cooked this in the fish broiler, but it should be fine on the grill or in the oven. Slow Cooker Sticky Asian Ribs with Sticky Sauce are the very best fall of the bone tender ribs you will ever make!

You likely can, but boneless ribs won’t need to be cooked as long as bone-in. Also, boneless ribs tend to be less juicy and tender than bone-in. Yes, but we really love how this homemade rib rub pairs with the Asian sticky slow cooker ribs.


I grew up living just five minutes away from both my obachan and ojiichan (Japanese grandparents) and a handful of my cousins, so family get-togethers were a weekly event.

It was only for special holidays, though, that my mom or obachan would make these Best-Ever Sticky Asian Ribs. While these are not authentic Chinese spare ribs, their Asian style flavor is amazing, and they are also VERY easy to make. They are slowly cooked in a slow oven, lovingly basted with an Asian-style marinade, until they reach a tender, caramelize sticky perfection.


These are easy to make but don’t just throw them in a crock pot for hours and walk away. You will have meat and bones as they will be way over cooke especially if you use tender baby back ribs. My husband adores this recipe for Asian ribs, and I love how good it makes the house smell! The mil tangy, salty-sweet sauce with fresh ginger and garlic is delicious with rice or noodles.


Asian flavors that create a thick marinade and sauce coat the Pork spare ribs. After being slowly cooked in the oven slathered in the Asian BBQ sauce for a couple hours, the spare ribs develop a lovely crispy, caramelize sticky crust around the pork. Place spare ribs in a glass pan and coat with the sauce. Bake at 3degrees Fahrenheit for about minutes. Place the ribs on the rack and transfer the tray to the oven.

Smoking Meat On A Grill This summer, we have discovered how to smoke spare ribs on our charcoal grill, and it has been one of the best learning experiences of the summer!
